Swimming sessions for women.

These swim sessions are to encourage all women and girls to feel more confident in our pools. All windows will be covered for privacy and staff poolside will be female. This session will offer women a safe and private pool space to take advantage of swimming and recreation. Try aqua fitness classes, lane swimming or perhaps just relax in the family spa – it's up to you.

The pool will be split with a couple of lanes available for lane swimming and free space for you to chill out and enjoy the water.

Te Pou Toetoe: Linwood Pool

  • The whole facility will be women-only every Wednesday from 3pm to 9.30pm.
  • The whole pool area will be available, including learn to swim for children and adults, recreation pool, lane swimming, aqua jogging, children's pool, the family spa and manu pool.
  • For all fitness levels.

Why we have women-only sessions

During consultation with the community in the build-up to Te Pou Toetoe: Linwood Pool opening there was a call for special sessions where the facility would be available to women only, to help support women and girls to access and use the pool facilities. There is a range of reasons women may choose to come to this session, including to be more physically active, because of religious and cultural beliefs, body image issues or low self-confidence.

Who may attend women-only sessions

All women, girls, and boys (up to and including the age of five) may attend these sessions.  This includes trans women and people who identify as being a woman.
