Lyttelton's only public swimming pool is enjoyed by the community, especially over the summer months when it attracts more than 9000 visitors.

Norman Kirk Memorial Summer Pool is open from 12 November 2022.

The Norman Kirk Memorial Summer Pool is located at 54 Oxford Street, Lyttelton(external link). You can take the number 28 bus(external link) to get here.

The pool includes:

  • six-lane, 25-metre outdoor pool
  • paddling pool

The pool has a ramp entry.

The last entry to the pool is 15 minutes before closing - be ready to leave the facility by the closing time.

Membership sign-up sessions are held on Fridays at 10am on site for new members to collect their key and complete the health and safety induction.

Supervision of children in the pool

  • Children under five years old must be within arm’s reach and under constant supervision by a responsible caregiver aged 16 or older in the pool at all times.
  • Children between the ages of five and seven (inclusive) must be actively supervised by a responsible caregiver aged 16 or older who is to be within the pool area at all times and able to provide immediate assistance.(external link)
