The new hot saltwater pools on the New Brighton foreshore opened on 30 May 2020.
Due to flooding and the king tide this morning He Puna Taimoana is closed today Monday 31 May.
If you have a booking today you will automatically be credited and can rebook to use the pools at another time that suits you.
He Puna Taimoana offers five outdoor pools ranging in temperature from 26°C to 40°C.
These include relaxation, fitness and family pools. There is also a plunge pool at 12°C, sauna, steam room and café.
The hot pools are a key development in the New Brighton Regeneration Project – a transformation of the seaside village backed by the Council, Development Christchurch Limited (DCL), local businesses and the community.
Projects include the completed hot pools, beachside children's playground, improvements to Marine Parade, and plans to revitalise the commercial/shopping centre, transport and car parking, and residential development.
The hot pools have been talked about for years as a destination asset to help revitalise New Brighton. The community has been part of the process from the beginning, with initial concepts for the hot pools facility based on ideas and feedback from locals.
