Come join the Avon-Heathcote Ihutai Estuary Trust and CCC rangers one Sunday each month to restore McCormacks Bay.

McCormacks Bay planting.

Where to go

Meet at the Bay on the corner of McCormacks Bay and Maffeys Roads.

What to bring

Bring with you some appropriate clothing and footwear. Gloves and tools and sunscreen supplied.

What you can expect to do

Each working bee lasts two hours.

This unique wetland reserve is an important habitat for native wetland birds. The estuary trust together with Christchurch City Council park rangers are restoring and enhancing this reserve, with support from the Rata Foundation.

During autumn, winter and spring, work is mainly focused around planting, weeding and mulching.

In summer, work is mainly weeding, watering and litter removal.

For further information contact Matt Rose on 027 240 6276 or or just turn up on Sunday afternoon and say hi to the very friendly and informal team.

Dates and times

Working bees occur on the third Sunday of the month, 2pm to 4pm.
