Access
Waimairi, North, New and South Brighton beaches are located along Marine Parade in the coastal suburb of New Brighton.
There is plenty of street parking along the coast and in dedicated car parks at all beaches.
Metroinfo(external link) has up-to-date bus information.
Accessibility
Hire a beach wheelchair that can be easily pushed over sandy and rough terrain by one person. Chairs are free to hire (though a donation is welcomed), there is one adult and one child chair available.
Book use of the chair.(external link)
North Beach Surf Club also has an accessibility mat that is free to hire. This is a great way for people with wheelchairs, prams and mobility issues to get closer to the water's edge. Drop in to the Surf Club to arrange use.
Dogs
All of the walking tracks have different rules around dogs depending on the season or protected wildlife. Check in the individual walking pages for information.
In most seasons, dogs can be walked under effective control on the beaches. In summer however, dogs are prohibited within a certain distance of the Surf Life Saving Clubs.
If you are on a walk that crosses the beach over summer, you must put your dog on a short leash for this section. Find out more information from the dog bylaw map.
Facilities
There are public toilets available near the Surf Lifesaving Clubs, at the pier and in all local parks and reserves in the area.
South Brighton Domain has a free barbeque available to use as well as bookable picnic space.
