What are we doing?

  • From Sunday 16 June for three nights, we will be carrying out potholing to locate services.
  • Work is expected to take place between 8pm and 6am each night. If weather is wet we will carry this work out on nights following.
  • Night work is required due to the proximity of our site to the tunnel roundabout and the high volumes of traffic which use this roundabout during the day.

Night works:

  • The crews need lights to see what they are working on. You will notice extra light coming from the street.
  • There will be noise from trucks, machinery and the crew working overnight. We will try to minimise noise as much as possible.
  • Hydro-excavation is noisy work. We expect to hydro-excavate on Sunday night, subject to weather. The following nights, we expect to carry out less noisy work such as backfilling and asphalting.
  • We know our work is disruptive. We thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.

What is hydro-excavation?

Hydro-excavation is the science of digging with water. We'll be using high-pressure water and a powerful vacuum to remove soil. The soil will be transferred to a debris tank to keep mess to a minimum. This is a safe, non-destructive and accurate way to remove soil and locate underground utilities, such a pipes, electrical cables and phone lines.

Traffic impacts:

Stop/go will be in place on Simeon uay around our site at times, between 9pm and 6am each night. Please be on the lookout for changes in traffic management and follow signs on site.
