Get involved to contribute to some meaningful mahi and improve the mauri of Waimakariri te awa.

How to get there

Head to the Kaiapoi Island Section of Waimakariri River Regional Park. The entrance to this section of the park is next to the Challenge service station at the corner of Wrights and Main North Road.

Continue on the gravel road, turning left towards the public toilets and under Main North Road Bridge for approximately 1km.

Look out for the blue and white Sustainable Coastlines flags and friendly helpers in high-vis gear.

What the day involves

  • 9.45am - Registration opens at Kaiapoi Island. Tea and coffee are served.
  • 10.00am - Opening words from Sustainable Coastlines and Forest & Bird (North Canterbury).
  • 10.10am - Safety briefing and planting demonstration.
  • 12.30pm - Return to home base for lunch and group photo.
  • 1.00pm - Photo and quick wrap-up before the event formally concludes.
  • 1.15pm Extra time -  For those who wish to stay longer, we will continue planting until pack-up at 2pm (tree dependent).
