Join rongoā practitioners as they celebrate Matariki and puaka rising to signal the Maori New Year.
Please arrive at 6.30am to witness the dawn breaking with a karakia and a ceremonial tree planting as a symbol of new beginnings.
The dawn planting will be followed by sharing kai and a hui where we share our wishes for the year to come.
If dawn is a bit too early for you, we have a second family-friendly planting event at 10am. Meet at the Rongoā Garden on 567 Marshlands Road.
Dress warmly in sturdy footwear – gumboots and warm layers recommended.
This is a joint event run by the Kahukura Rongoā Maori Trust, Styx Living Laboratory Trust and Christchurch City Council
