For over 20 years Christchurch City Libraries has celebrated Matariki in some form and way. This years the focus is on the growing and wind stars: Tupuānuku, Tupuārangi and Ururangi – that which grows in the earth, that which grows in the air (birds, fruit etc) and the winds.

The libraries have lots of fun whānau-friendly activities across the month of June as well as some specific whānau days at Tūranga and Rehua Marae at the end of the month!

Come along to any of our free events within the libraries and learn all about Matariki and why it is so important to the Māori culture.
