Hear stories of the history of Akaroa, the various identities buried in the cemeteries, the roles they played within the early Akaroa community, and the interactions between the different cultures and religions.

The tours start at the Akaroa Catholic Cemetery, 1 Cemetery Road and will be taken by an experienced Akaroa Historical Tour Guide wearing period costume and using a microphone.

Donation/koha appreciated to help raise funds to restore earthquake-damaged historic headstones, the earliest of which date from the 1830s/40s.

There is a requirement for walking on hillsides. People will need to be moderately fit and wear suitable shoes with good grip. Parking is available close to the Catholic and Dissenters Cemeteries.
