Heritage Highlights: As far as the eye can see

Join local history librarian Glenn Coster for his talk about E Wheeler and Son’s 1881 superbly detailed panorama photographs of Christchurch.

In early 1881 the Wheeler and Son photographic studio took a series of photographs of Christchurch from the top of the Anglican Christchurch Cathedral.

The photographs were then published in an accordion-style fold-out album which when opened showed Christchurch in a superbly detailed panorama.
