The inner-city Christchurch circuit offers a traditional criterium taking in iconic Christchurch landmarks such as the Avon River, Bridge of Remembrance and the Art Gallery.
It is adjacent to the bars and restaurants of the famous Oxford Street making for a spectator-friendly, fast-paced afternoon of entertainment.
The National titles are contested by New Zealand’s top cyclists over a multi-lap race circuit through the inner-city.
Prior to the much anticipated A Grade Men's and Women's races there are Under 17, Under 19 and Street Race events.
Challenge yourself and race, or come along to watch the action live – there's something for everyone.
Because the criterium is a road race, there are road closures and detours in place from 10am to 9pm.
If you’re travelling across the central city your quickest options are Madras Street, Barbadoes Street or Fitzgerald Avenue. The intersection of Durham Street and Bealey Avenue will be closed to traffic.
Parking within the race route will be closed from 10am to 9pm, including the West End car park and Art Gallery car park. If you need to exit the car park after 10am please be prepared for delays.
Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetū will be open as usual. Access to Christchurch Hospital will remain fully open and emergency service vehicles will be permitted across the road closure area at all times.
At Orange, under the Covid-19 Protection Framework, My Vaccine Passes will be required by all riders, officials, supporters, and spectators wishing to enter the event village in the Park of Remembrance. My Vaccine Passes aren't required around the rest of the course, though the wearing of face coverings is encouraged and physical distancing is required.
