Christchurch Rebuild and Filipino Migrant Workers

Stories of experiences and achievements from some Filipino migrant workers and employees on the Christchurch rebuild.

This year the Philippine Culture and Migrants Services will focus on the milestones and events based on the participation, achievements and observations by both the Filipino migrant workers and their employers in the Christchurch rebuild project.

We will invite the Filipino workers and their employers to discuss how they planned, moved through the different phases of these construction projects, along with the timeline set by the bigger contractors to finish on time. They will be talking about the future heritage that they have constructed in Christchurch from government buildings, the hospital, commercial buildings and residential houses and hotels. There will be a presentation of progress from the contributions of the contractors, employers and employees.

This event will be an occasion for them to share their experiences specifically from the migrant workers, what they have brought to the city from their homeland and in the same manner they will be acknowledged for the work they have done in the rebuilding, regenerating, beautification and the construction of the future heritage of Christchurch.
