Celebrating and sharing stories of our members who have given significant contributions to the community of Canterbury and the wider districts such as the Ng/King Chinese Market Garden Settlement in Ashburton, Trevor and Jenny Agnew - historians sharing their stories, story of the Poll Tax pardoning lead by the late Prof Goh (Canterbury Branch), Qiao Yi Lion Dance troupe (celebrating Chinese Lion Dance culture) and many more stories and events that have evolved and shaped our Chinese community.

The NZ Chinese Association dates back to 1937 in Christchurch. The Hall provides a meeting place and a sense of belonging for our members. Our people are the hub of our organisation - we came to a foreign land to make it our home, learning to integrate but also to hold on to our grassroots.

We are showcasing the unique identity of early Chinese migrants by exhibiting the historical Chinese New Zealander experiences and their stories. We reflect on the hardships and highlights of the early Chinese settlers who chose to call New Zealand their home, to the present day - celebrating cultural diversity in Ōtautahi Christchurch.
