The Walking Festival provides a chance for Cantabrians to explore amazing walks in Christchurch, Selwyn and Waimakiriri.

The Walking Festival 2021
Nau Mai Haere Mai – The Walking Festival is back from 17 April to 2 May.
If this is your first time, welcome to the wonderful world of walking. If you’ve joined us before, welcome back. Whether you’re a fan of local history or getting out into nature, socialising or pushing yourself to get that awesome view, there’s something for all ages and abilities.
With over 50 walks across Christchurch, Selwyn and Waimakariri, make sure you get amongst it. This year we've based our 50-plus walks around three pillars of wellbeing: Explore: Hōpara, Learn: Ako and Connect: Hano.
To check out the walks on offer, visit our What's On page(external link) or the festival booklet(external link).

There are lots of walking groups in Canterbury. Check out some of the below groups in your area or pop into the local library or service centre to pick up a Christchurch Walking Groups booklet.
