Hagley Oval - Proposed new lease and variation

Public notice is hereby given that the Christchurch City Council is considering granting to the Canterbury Cricket Trust (“the Trust”) a new ground lease for six lighting towers on the Hagley Oval cricket ground perimeter.

The proposed lease will enable the installation of lighting towers that meet international television broadcasting standards for night matches.

Hagley Oval is in South Hagley Park (Rural Section 41182 on Survey Office Plan 15236, Record of Title CB30A/95), which is administered by the Council as a recreation reserve subject to the Reserves Act 1977.

The proposed lease includes six areas of land totalling approximately 768m2 for a term commencing when granted and terminating on 30 November 2046, including all renewals, to coincide with the term of the existing lease to the Trust.  It is proposed that the new lease will be granted under Section 54(1)(b) of the Reserves Act 1977.

The proposed lease will be put into effect by way of a variation to the existing lease to the Trust, replacing the current four lighting tower areas with new areas for six lighting towers.

Full details of the proposed lease (including areas and locations of the six premises) and lighting towers (including scale and design of these) can be found on the Council website ccc.govt.nz/HaveYourSay(external link).

For further details please contact Derek Roozen, Senior Network Planner Parks, phone (03) 941 8798 or e-mail derek.roozen@ccc.govt.nz.

The public are able to submit objections or submissions on the proposed new lease.

Submitters should state if they wish to appear before a hearings panel to be heard in support of their objection or submission.

Objections or submissions should be made in writing no later than 5pm on Monday 18 November 2019.
