Public submissions on a proposal to upgrade part of Hereford Street will be considered by a Hearings Panel in mid-February.

Christchurch City Council sought feedback from the public in July last year on its proposal to upgrade Hereford Street between Oxford Terrace and Manchester Street.

It received 180 submissions during the consultation period.  Ninety-seven (about 54 per cent) of the submitters voiced support for the proposed upgrade, while 80 (about 44 per cent) were opposed to it.  Three submitters did not indicate view.

A Hearings Panel has been appointed by the Council to consider the submissions and advice from Council staff ahead of making recommendations on whether the proposed upgrade should proceed.

The Panel will meet on 19 February to listen to any submitters who want to speak about the proposed upgrade.
