Cruise ship visits

Akaroa Harbour was the chosen destination for cruise ships visiting Canterbury during the 2012/13 season, due to earthquake damage in Lyttelton Harbour.

The cruise ship season runs from October to April each year.

Information for the 2013/2014 Cruise season will be updated closer to the time.

Below is the information from the 2012/13 season.

Depending on the size of the vessel, each cruise ship could have up to 2000 visitors. Very occasionally two cruise ships will visit Akaroa Harbour at the same time, resulting in a maximum number of 4000 visitors.

A schedule of visits for the 2013/14 season will be posted here in September 2013.   The schedule includes passenger numbers and visit dates – all information included on the schedule is subject to change.
