Details:

From Sunday 17 January for four nights, between 6pm and 6am, we will be potholing to locate services at Cranmer Square, Montreal Street, Moorhouse Ave, Hagley Ave and Riccarton Ave. This work is being carried out so we can install gantry signs at each location from next month.

Each pothole location is expected to be completed within one night. Once complete, our crew will move on to the next pothole location.

Please note if weather is unfavorable, this work will be carried out on nights following.

Traffic impacts:

Lane shifts will be in place. Driveway access into surrounding properties will be maintained.

We will need to remove some on street car parks. We will place no parking cones out around affected areas during the day before each night shift.

Please be on the lookout for changes to the traffic management and follow the signs.

Night works:

  • You will notice light and noise coming from the site.
  • We will aim to carry out noisier works such as saw cutting and hydro-excavation earlier in the night if we can.

We know night work is disruptive so we aim to complete this work as quickly as possible. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Hydro-excavation:

We’ll be using high-pressure water and a powerful vacuum to remove soil for each pothole. The soil will be transferred to a
debris tank to keep mess to a minimum. This is a safe, non-destructive and accurate way to remove soil and locate underground services, such as pipes, electrical cables and phone lines.

Please note this is a loud activity and it will take a few hours to complete each pothole. We appreciate your patience and cooperation.
