Designations

For planning purposes, a property may be 'designated' for a specific purpose. Designations allow a 'requiring authority', such as a Government Minister or a utility company, to use a property for a particular activity or range of activities. Those activities do not need to comply with the rules of the zone in which the property is located. However, there may be conditions that limit those activities. The airport, railways and roading are typical examples of designations.

The following matters are going through the designations process:

NZ Transport Agency Designating Authority - QEII Drive/Marshlands Road Intersection

NZ Transport Agency Designating Authority – SH1 Wairakei Road to Sawyers Arms Road

Halswell Library - 341 Halswell Road
