The demolition waste arising from the earthquake events is to be sorted and processed at the Bottle Lake Forest and the closed Burwood Landfill, pursuant to 2011 Order in Council Burwood Resource Recovery Park. Amendments to the City Plan are to allow for the permanent disposal of earthquake waste to the landfill site. The Burwood Landfill Plan Change is made operative by public notice, dated 24 November 2011, under Section 27 of the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Act 2011.
