Banks Peninsula District Plan

The Banks Peninsula District Plan provides a framework for the management of land use and subdivision.

The abolition of the Banks Peninsula District Council has no effect on the status of the Banks Peninsula District Plan.

The Banks Peninsula District Plan is still proposed and not yet operative. The Plan was publicly notified in 1997 for submissions. Since then most of the urban and rural provisions in the Plan have been resolved. i.e. they have been the subject of submissions, further submissions, hearings, decisions and appeals. The only parts of the Plan yet to be resolved are those sections relating to financial contributions, monitoring, and designations. Once all of the provisions in the District Plan are beyond the point where they are subject to any variations/submissions/appeals, the plan can be prepared to be made operative.
