Water restrictions in Akaroa were raised to level four at the end of March due to a significant drop in the stream flows that are used for the Akaroa water supply.
Christchurch City Council City Water and Waste manager Mark Christison says the recent rainfall has meant the stream levels have eased enough to lift the water restrictions. He says the water conservation in the area has also been outstanding.
Mr Christison says they long period of water restrictions this year illustrates the need for on-going water conservation throughout the year. Tips on how to conserve water are available on the Council’s water conservation website - Waterwise.
