Council Elections

Every three years local authorities in New Zealand hold elections on the second Saturday in October using the postal voting method.

By-election for Lyttelton–Mt Herbert Community Board member 2015

Preliminary results show Denis Aldridge is the highest-polling candidate in the Lyttelton–Mt Herbert Community Board by-election.

So far, 1579 votes (34 per cent of eligible voters) have been received. The preliminary results show:

  • Denis Aldridge (Independent), 869 votes
  • Jed O’Donoghue (Independent), 716 votes

Voting closed at noon today (Tuesday 17 February). With five special votes still to process, it is hoped that the final declaration of results will take place later this week. Once the results are final, Denis Aldridge will be sworn in at the Wednesday 18 March Lyttelton–Mt Herbert Community Board meeting.
