This Treatment Plant is no longer in service, instead the plant has been replaced by a pump station and all the wastewater is now diverted to the main Christchurch Wastewater Treatment Plant at Bromley.

This scheme served the immediate Governors Bay community of around 750 residents living along Main Road to approximately 350 metres short of Church Lane. The treatment plant was located approximately 400 metres south of the Governors Bay wharf, above the foreshore.

Treatment

As part of the Lyttelton Harbour wastewater scheme, all of the wastewater from Governors Bay, Lyttelton and Diamond Harbour is being pumped directly to the Christchurch wastewater treatment plant at Bromley.

Consent monitoring

The main resource consent for discharge to the harbour (CRC101760) expired in December 2018. It included requirements for monitoring treated wastewater and the area receiving the discharge (receiving environment). Historical monitoring data is provided in the tables and graphs below.
