Who do I report someone fishing illegally from the pier to?

Any issues concerned with the behaviour of persons using the Pier, ie people fishing from the pier during the restricted weekend hours. Restricted hours: Daylight saving on weekends and public holidays between the hours of 6am - 6pm.

Other Information

The following rules should be observed when fishing at the Christchurch Pier:

  • No fishing from the pier on weekends and public holidays between the hours of 6am to 6pm, during daylight savings.
  • No overhead casting: Please drop your fishing line into the water or underhand cast. Overhead casting is unsafe for other people using the pier. Use the cutting and washing boards provided.

  • Respect the environment: Undersized fish (under 23cm) must be returned to the water and quotas for each species must be observed. Information and guidelines on fish species and quotas can be found on the information panels attached to the Pier railings. Our marine life is limited. Please respect the environment and make it a sustainable resource.

  • Crab pots Crab fishing is only permitted with a light line, no crab pots are allowed.

  • Dogs are not allowed on the Pier.

  • No diving is allowed off the Pier.
