Who owns/maintains the New Brighton Pier?
The Christchurch City Council owns and maintains the Pier. It was jointly funded by the Council and the Pier and Foreshore Society.
Please call the Council Action Line to report any issues concerned with the maintenance of the Pier or behaviour of persons using the Pier, ie people fishing in non-regulation areas of the pier.

Other Information
The Pier is washed down daily at a cost of approx $3,000 per month ($36,000 per annum). It involves washing down the length of the Pier to ensure all bird mess, fish bait etc is removed.
