Can you tell me what a floor area of a house is?

Sometimes property owners require the square meterage of a residence, for insurance purposes.

The Council holds property information for consented work that has been approved and within that information we are sometimes able to tell you what the square meterage of your dwelling is, depending on the age of the property. We do not guarantee the accuracy of this information.

We suggest that you either

    a) Measure up the building(s) yourself (and calculate the areas),

    b) Visit the Service Centre that holds the property file for your property, peruse it to see if there is an up-to-date drawing of the building, and measure it

    c) Call one of our customer representatives (number below) who may be able to assist you.
