How do I make application for a Certificate of Acceptance?

Because the Council has a discretion under the Building Act on whether or not to issue a Certificate of Acceptance, a pre-application interview must be arranged with the Council’s Building Consent Officer in Civic Offices. Before submitting an application please phone our Customer Services Line where you will be connected to the Building Consent Officer to make an appointment.

If the Council is prepared to accept an application, it will be necessary to lodge detailed plans and specifications of the work just as you would for a building consent application. There is a standard application form available. The Building Consent Officer will assist you with this at the time of the interview.

Only work undertaken after 1 July 1992 will be considered for Certificate of Acceptance.
