Do I need a building consent or a licence to erect a bouncy castle?

On Private Property
No permission from the City Council is required to erect a bouncy castle, however you will need to ensure:

- you have the permission of the landowner concerned.
- that the device is not used in such a away as to create a nuisance and
- that all care is taken to ensure the safety of those using the device including having the device securely tied to the ground in case of winds.

In a Park
If you would like to erect a bouncy castle in a Park, please call our booking line on the telephone number below. Please note: Bouncy Castles are not permitted at Heritage Parks or Halswell Quarry.
