Coast to the High Country Programme

The Coast to the High Country programme is a three-day environmental education field trip for Year 6 to 13 students. It offers:

  • visits to a range of locations throughout Canterbury from Pegasus Bay to Craigieburn Forest
  • guest speakers from the Christchurch City Council, Environment Canterbury and the Department of Conservation
  • three full days of experiential and hands-on activities
  • facilitated by a registered teacher from World Wide Fund for Nature – NZ
  • low risk/high interest activities
  • Mountain Safety Council approved safety plan
  • two nights accommodation at the Environmental Education Centre of NZ, Craigieburn Forest
  • curriculum themes: living communities, human impacts, freshwater, sustainability, resource use, and heritage.
