Coast to the High Country Programme
The Coast to the High Country programme is a three-day environmental education field trip for Year 6 to 13 students. It offers:
- visits to a range of locations throughout Canterbury from Pegasus Bay to Craigieburn Forest
- guest speakers from the Christchurch City Council, Environment Canterbury and the Department of Conservation
- three full days of experiential and hands-on activities
- facilitated by a registered teacher from World Wide Fund for Nature – NZ
- low risk/high interest activities
- Mountain Safety Council approved safety plan
- two nights accommodation at the Environmental Education Centre of NZ, Craigieburn Forest
- curriculum themes: living communities, human impacts, freshwater, sustainability, resource use, and heritage.
