This resource booklet has been prepared to highlight the importance of trees and native biodiversity in our City. It is designed to help teachers plan a unit of work that can be used alongside an Arbor Day planting activity. It includes:
- Some background information about trees.
- An information guide on how to plant and care for trees.
- Activities for year levels 1,2,3 and 4 based on the aims of environmental education.
- Identification/information sheets for 6 of New Zealand’s native tree species.
- A booklist with a selection of readings on trees from picture books suitable for younger students, through to reference books suitable for teachers.
