Built Environment
Our City O-Tautahi
Our City O-Tautahi is more than an exhibition space. It has been established to inform and educate citizens of Christchurch about the city’s environment and developments past present and future.
More and more teachers are looking for opportunities for experiential learning outside of the classroom in the real world. Our City O-Tautahi provides classes with the opportunity to learn about how a city runs, how growth is managed, the issues that arise and the benefits a city can provide to communities or the region.
Schools are able to use the purpose built education room within Our City O-Tautahi. You can use the facility as a base for your class and make trips around the city. You can also make use of the ever-changing exhibits to add to your students learning.
Our City is open to the public Monday-Friday, 10 am – 4 pm, corner of Oxford Terrace and Worcester Boulevard, Christchurch, New Zealand.
For more information on upcoming exhibitions and events or to find out more about the past history of the building and its purpose go to the Our City O-Tautahi web site
Feedback from schools
“Our City venue is wonderful for the pupils because of the stimulation provided by the building itself, and its central location”. Riccarton High “City School” Teacher
“Right from the moment I stepped in the door I realised how truly amazing the building was. But the best thing was when I stepped into the great hall. I really couldn’t believe it. All of the stained glass windows just blew me away…… The building was the first thing I told my parents about when I got home and I will remember it in 25 years from now”. Riccarton High Student
