Where can I ride my horse in the Christchurch area?

Horse riding is also permitted on leased reserves by agreement with Pony Clubs:

  • Mary Duncan Park - Ferrymead Pony Club
  • Halswell Domain - Halswell Pony Club
  • Sumnervale Reserve

Can I get access to the beach to ride my horse?

Yes, from 1 April - 31 October you can ride from Spencer Park, Heyders Road to the Southshore Spit and Clifton Beach between Shag Rock and Cave Rock. A float park is available at Spencer Park and beach access is sign posted.

Horse riding is only permitted from Spencer Park heading towards the Waimakariri River Mouth between November and March.
