The wastewater pipe under Tuam Street is a brick barrel, constructed in the 1880’s and is at the end of its useful life. |

When |
The works are underway and will finish April 2020. Works have commenced at Mathesons Road and will progress west. The section from Mathesons Road to Nursery Road will take 6-7 months due to more complex works in this area. West of Nursery Road the works are less complex and will progress quicker. |

Traffic impacts
- Works will take place down the centre line of Tuam Street and we intend to maintain traffic lanes on either side.
- To keep both lanes open as much as possible during construction, we will be temporarily removing parking on both sides of the street where trenching works are taking place.
- No permanent changes to the existing road layout are planned.
Buses
- The bus route down Tuam Street and Phillips Street will be impacted with a possible detour down Nursery Road. Bus stops within the work areas will be temporarily closed while construction is underway.
Turning restrictions
- It will not be possible to cross the road where works are taking place. There will be no right turns at intersections where trenching works are passing through.
Noise
There may be increased noise, dust and vibrations during work but it shouldn’t impact on your power, water, gas or phone services.
Safety
Safety is our biggest priority so please keep children and pets away from worksites.
Bins
Please put your bins out as usual before 6am on your collection day. Our crew will move and return them if needed.
