Walking Festival 2023 - Historic Ōpāwaho Loop

A loop walk along the historic towpath beside the Ōpāwaho Heathcote River starting and ending at The Tannery.

The Ōpāwaho Heathcote River Network hosts and guides this three-hour loop walk along the historic towpath on the banks of the Ōpāwaho Heathcote River.

Learn about the ecological, cultural and historical journey of the river as we walk.

View ecological restoration projects including the only Christchurch reserve named after a woman, and find out how you can be part of the restoration of this important river and its environs.

Largely easy walking, mostly suitable for prams and buggies.
