The Canterbury Provincial Council Buildings are unique in that they are the only remaining purpose-built provincial council buildings in New Zealand.
An education programme and tours are run out of this building offering the opportunity to examine first hand, outstanding examples of early colonial architecture in the Victorian Gothic Revival idiom styles, and a chance to study the social history of early settlement in Christchurch and government in Canterbury.
Booklets and brochure on the Canterbury Provincial Council Building available on request.
Hours of opening are 10.30am–3pm, six days a week (excluding Sunday).
