EcoDrop and transfer stations

EcoDrop and Transfer stations are safe disposal locations for you to dispose of large quantities of waste or items that are not collected through the kerbside collection service.

Christchurch has a total of five transfer stations – three in the city and two on Banks Peninsula. The transfer stations in the city are called EcoDrop (formerly EcoDepot). The ones on Banks Peninsula are called transfer stations.

Earthquake update

The city's three EcoDrops are all open.
• Metro Place (off Dyers Road) in Bromley
• Styx Mill Styx Mill Road (off the Main North Road) in Redwood
• Parkhouse Road (off Curletts Road) in Wigram

Home owners needing to remove rubble from earthquake damaged homes are asked to take it to one of these three EcoDrop where it can be assessed for reuse and recycling or disposed of safely. Ensure you keep your receipt for insurance purposes. Cleanfill eg. bricks and rubble can be disposed of at a cost of $25 per tonne.
