Rateable values are updated regularly, to ensure that the spread of rates between different property owners is fair.
An update of the old 2007 valuations has not been possible due to the earthquakes, and your rates bill will continue to be calculated based on this valuation until 30 June 2014.
New valuations have been completed based on property market conditions as at 1 November 2013. Your rates bill will be based on these new valuations from 1 July 2014.
The new 2013 valuations have been assessed by independent valuers (Quotable Value) and will be available on this page from 12 March (the page will show both the 2007 and the new 2013 valuations). A written Notice will be posted to all owners and ratepayers soon after that.
You will have the opportunity to formally Object to your new valuation if you disagree with it - instructions for Objection will be included in your written Notice, or can be found on the Quotable Value website (qvgroup.qv.co.nz/rating-values-objection).
