Earthquake Assistance Centres
The Earthquake Assistance Centre and Kaiapoi Earthquake Hub provide information and assistance for red zone homeowners who have insurance and are deciding on government offers to buy their properties. They also:
• give updates on services such as roading, se werage and water
• help connect people who have earthquake-related housing, legal and/or insurance issues with services
• share material from official agencies and community organisations, including notices and contact details.
The Centres include staff from Councils, Canterbury Earthquake Temporary Accommodation Service (CETAS), Earthquake Commission (EQC), Community Law Canterbury, some insurance firms and some banks. As the Centres will not necessarily be staffed by all organisations all of the time, if you wish to meet with a representative of a particular organisation please call to find out the best time to come along.
