Existing fence inspections
The Pool Fencing Guide [PDF 223KB] explains in detail what the legal requirements of fencing a swimming pool or spa are.
To determine whether your existing pool fence complies with the requirements of the Fencing of Swimming Pools Act 1987, please apply for a site inspection using the Application for an inspection of a pool/spa fence (Form SP3) [PDF 32KB].
Special exemptions
If any aspect of your proposal does not comply with the Fencing of Swimming Pools Act 1987, your only option is to complete the Application form for special exemption (SP5) [PDF 133KB].
Please note that special exemptions will only be granted where the risk to young children will not be increased.
Fees
