Residential demolition, removal and relocation

A building consent may be required for the demolition of a building. If it is over three storeys or attached to another structure please complete the appropriate application form and checksheets listed below.

Please note that the removal or demolition of listed heritage buildings is not permitted as of right under the Christchurch City Plan or Banks Peninsula Proposed District Plan and resource consent is required.

For the demolition and/or removal of a building from site

Please note that if you wish to relocate a building with an area greater than 30 square metres to any zone in the Christchurch City Plan, you will also need to obtain a resource consent.

If you are located in the Banks Peninsula area, all relocated buildings require resource consent as a controlled activity under the Banks Peninsula Proposed District Plan.
