To apply for a building consent for minor internal residential building alterations, please complete application form B-002 and checksheet B-066 listed below. 'Minor work' includes alterations to internal walls or plumbing alterations.
NB: The definition of 'minor' is at the discretion of the Council.
Changes to Schedule 1 of the Building Act 2004 allows for some minor internal alterations to be exempt from building consent (however, all work must comply with the Building Code). Refer to the Department of Building and Housing [PDF 190KB] guide for further information.
