North New Brighton Community Centre

There is a large upstairs area with a stage and kitchen. It includes a balcony that leads to the beach and a smaller carpeted downstairs room suitable for small meetings or art and craft activities.

North New Brighton Community Centre has the following capacities:

Hour of hire

• Monday to Sunday, 8am to midnight

 Access

• This centre has wheelchair access and accessible toilets
• A lift services the upstairs area
• There is some off-street public parking that is shared with the beach
• On-street parking is also available

First-floor function room hire

• $19.00 per hour for not-for-profit community groups where the booking is for community benefit and does not charge attendees.
• $34.00 per hour for not-for-profit community groups where the booking is for a community group and charges fees or takes payment.
• $94.00 per hour for commercial, business, private or celebration hire. This includes auctions, meetings, birthdays, weddings, private events, funerals etc.
• $507.00 on a Friday or Saturday evening for commercial, business, private or celebration hire from 6pm to midnight. Outside these times the hourly rate applies.

Ground-floor meeting room hire

• $17.00 per hour for not-for-profit community groups where the booking is for community benefit and does not charge attendees.
• $26.00 per hour for not-for-profit community groups where the booking is for a community group and charges fees or takes payment.
• $42.00 per hour for commercial, business, private or celebration hire. This includes auctions, meetings, birthdays, weddings, private events, funerals etc.

Cleaning fees

• The cleaning charge, to ensure the facility has been left fit for purpose is up to $189.00 for cost recovery.
• Additional cleaning charges may apply if required.

General fees

• A facility security fee up to $150.00 will be applied to bookings from casual hirers whenever:
  • Alcohol is present.
  • A booking ends after 9pm Monday to Thursday.
  • A booking ends after 6pm Friday, Saturday, Sunday or on a public holiday.
  • At the discretion of Council staff, and not limited to the events above.
• $62.50 replacement charge for lost or damaged keys/access cards.

First-floor function room

• The heating for the centre is operated with a wall timer switch
• 150 chairs (single)
• 20 tables (folding 1800 x 760 millimetres) stored under the stage
• Stage with piano
• Extra chairs are stored under the stage

Kitchen

• Zip water heater
• 1 Large double door Fridge

• Hirers are required to supply their own crockery, cutlery, tea towels, wash-up cloths, rubbish bags and cleaning liquids
• Cleaning equipment (vacuum cleaner, broom, mop and bucket) are available

• Standard residential electric jug

Cleaning cupboard

• Vacuum cleaner
• Mop and bucket
• Brooms and dustpan and brush

A baby change table is situated in the accessible toilet cubicle next to the male toilet

Conditions of hire

• Conditions of use when hiring a Council facility.
• No stiletto heels to be worn in the upstairs area.

Health and safety

• As part of the rental agreement, you accept legal responsibility to meet evacuation plans, health and safety responsibilities and to act as the facility warden.
• All users are required to complete a pre-use form. These must then be signed, dated and left in the dropbox in the foyer of the centre.

Alcohol

• The consumption of alcohol is permitted in this facility.
• In general, bringing your own alcohol (BYO) is permitted at private functions such as weddings or birthdays.
• A special alcohol licence may be required if alcohol is part of your event, or if you are selling alcohol. Find out more about special alcohol licencing for events. Applications for special licences must be made with the alcohol licencing team at least 20 working days before the date of your event.
• Regardless of whether your event requires a special licence or not you still have the responsibility to ensure that you are providing a safe drinking environment at your event. Please read host responsibility guidelines and tips.
