QEII Park Recreation and Sport Centre

QEII Park Recreation and Sport Centre is New Zealand's largest multi-sport and leisure complex.

Built specifically for the 1974 Commonwealth Games, QEII Park is a sporting icon for Christchurch and New Zealand.

Notices and Closures

QEII Park has since undergone major redevelopment and has increased in size, capacity and water space. Today, the facility caters for family recreation through to elite sport performance and development.

QEII Park offers a full range of facilities, recreation programmes and fitness classes for a fun active way to get healthy. Please see the fees and charges for costs on memberships and hire.

The Southern Centre, a multisensory experience, and the NZ Academy of Sport (SI) and Sport Canterbury are also based at QEII Park.

QEII Park and Recreation Centre is located at 171 Travis Road, New Brighton.

Public transport

The Hei Hei to Burwood (Number 83) and Metrostar stop on Travis Road.

Parking

Approximately 510 sealed car parks within QEII Park grounds, including 6 disability parks.

Bike

There are 44 permanent bike stands available.

Opening hours

  • Monday–Friday, 6am–9pm
  • Weekends and public holidays, 7am–8pm

Closed Christmas Day and New Years Day
