Projects to improve Christchurch

Christchurch City Council is responsible for protecting our livelihoods and ensuring our city is a safe and healthy place to live and visit.

We have many projects underway across the city to improve and maintain our infrastructure, transport and greenspaces.

Over the next 10 years, the Council will spend $2.46 billion on a range of projects across the city.

These projects include extensive work to our infrastructure, development of new services, facilities and infrastructure networks – all part of the Long Term Council Community Plan (LTCCP) and contributors to sustaining Christchurch's future growth.

Some of our major developments happening in Christchurch include projects such as the revitalisation of Central City to renovate our open spaces and public areas, protect our heritage and promoting business in the centre of town; the Ocean Outfall project to pump treated wastewater three kilometres out to sea; and the new Transport Interchange, a key component in meeting the increasing demand for public transport.

You can find more information about projects happening in your area through our project search.
