    Other events and programmes

    • The Council helps celebrate Arbor Day on and around 5 June each year by organising community plantings in parks around the city, and supporting schools in their tree planting activities. Find one of our Arbor Day volunteer events near you and come along.
    • Help out with the Council’s Graffiti Removal Programme in parks and other areas around the city.
    • Clean Up New Zealand Week is held in the second week of September each year.
    • Weedbusters is a national programme for pest plant advocacy and control.
    • Community gardens are a great way to contribute in your own neighbourhood, especially if you want to learn more about growing vegetables. Find a community garden [PDF 496KB] near you.
