Daily guided tours
Guided tours
Guided tours are scheduled each day from mid-September through to the end of April. They are led by volunteer guides from the 'Friends of the Botanic Gardens' and provide an introduction to the Gardens, their history, management and seasonal highlights.
Tours depart daily from the Canterbury Museum entrance at 1.30pm, returning at 3pm. Cost $10 per person.
Group tours using the skilled services of the volunteer guides can be arranged at any time. To make an enquiry or book a tour, phone (03) 384 3475 .
Caterpillar Garden Tours
Caterpillar Garden Tours operate a continuous guided tour of the Gardens from 10am to 4pm aboard electric shuttles. Winters hours are 11am to 3pm. Tickets are available onboard or from the Garden Tours website.
Group tours

Group tours are limited to a maximum of 40 people. The types of tours available include:
Limited mobility tours - Groups of local visitors with limited mobility (e.g. rest home residents) can request driven tours through the gardens. This service is not available during the school holidays. Duration:1 hour. Cost on application.
Community group tours - Groups of local visitors can request tours through the gardens on a range of topics. Duration: 1.5 hours. Cost $82.50 per group.
Tourist group tours - A limited number of tourist group tours are offered on a first-in-first-served basis. Duration: 1.5 hours. Cost $165 per group.
Saturday guided tours
The Friends of the Botanic Gardens offer a guided walk, the third Saturday of each month. Topics vary according to the season, concurrent festivals and topical themes.
