About this ride
It's a steep climb to the Summit Road, but there is tremendous reward once there with fantastic views and a sense of being far removed from the City.
- Start either the Sumner or Cashmere end of the ride.
- At Cashmere end of ride there is an option of taking the steeper Dyers Pass Road or the slightly easier via Hackthorne Road.
- Dyers Pass and Hackthorne Roads are busy roads. Please take care when crossing at the intersection when the Hackthorne Road route crosses Dyers Road.
- The two routes combine at the Sign of the Takahe.
- Follow Dyers Pass Road up to the saddle at the Sign of the Kiwi.
- At the Sign of the Kiwi, turn left and follow the undulating and in places Summit Road through to Evans Pass Road.
- At Evans Pass, turn left and follow Evan Pass Road down to Sumner village.
- Or continue out to Godley Head.
