About this ride
Start: On the Godley Head Road, just past the first cattle stop. The track is on your right.
Finish: Taylors Mistake car park or Godley Head Car park.
Access: Leave your car in Sumner and bike up Evans Pass Road, or drive up and park.
Signage: At the start and throughout.
- A stunning cross-country ride with fantastic ocean views over Taylors Mistake and Lyttelton Harbour.
- The first section climbs up through old lava flows and is quite rough an technical places. It mellows into a flowing single track which takes you all the way out to the Godley Head car park.
- Water and toilets are available at the car park.
- From the Godley Head car park, cross the road and another fast flowing single track takes you back to Breezes Col below the Godley Head Road. From here you can ride the Anaconda Track for a quick and exhilarating ride down into Taylors Mistake.
- Either retrace the single track or ride the road over the hill back to Sumner.
